MORRIS GARAGES

The M.G. brand is very close to our hearts and we love classic cars.

The brand name MG goes back to William R. Morris. In 1910 he opened a workshop called Morris Garage, which was renamed Morris Garages in 1913.

However, it was not until 1924 that the M.G. company was officially founded. The first managing director and co-founder was Cecil Kimber. M.G. owes its success to him. Experts consider the year 1924 to be controversial. There are photos with the M.G. lettering from as early as 1923. Was M.G. LTD. perhaps already founded in 1923?

We drive an MG ourselves. My favorite car is an MGA in TyroLite green. A color that was very rarely used and is a feast for the eyes today. The MGA is a beautiful car with its rounded shapes. Thanks to designer Syd Enever, the MGA was built in series in 1955.

In principle, we only deal with the vehicles of the M.G. brand up to 1980, but we also follow the development of the subsequent M.G.s. After 1980, the Rover Group took over the brand, then Leyland Motors and finally BMW (1995). The intermezzo with BMW lasted until the turn of the millennium.

And today? In 2007, the MG brand was taken over by the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) based in China. For many MG enthusiasts, it stays that way. The last real MG was built in 1980. But we shouldn’t close our minds and look at the current cars with the octagon.

We do not sell parts, vehicles or services on this website, it simply reflects our experience with MGs. If you would like to get in touch with me/us to discuss or if you have any other suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The following information is based on my experience. You are welcome to hold a different opinion.
